After much anticipation and speculation, the Tata Harrier EV is finally here, making all the right noises in the electric SUV space. Unveiled earlier this year at the Auto Expo, the Harrier EV caught our attention with its futuristic appearance, and now it’s here in the flesh, promising to dazzle us, this time for real, with power, design, and next-gen tech.
A Sleek Yet Smart Design
In terms of the design, Tata Harrier EV sticks to its old design theme, but with an added dose of sophistication. The grille is now completely closed — a no-brainer for an electric vehicle, which improves aerodynamics and gives the SUV a more modern look. The bottom grille remains open to ensure the battery stays cool, and silver accents are nicely applied to suggest a wide, premium appearance. Cameras are placed at the front, rear and under the ORVMs, providing a 540-degree view for better safety. The linked DRL construct and purposeful vents also add to performance and looks.. On the front, there are six parking sensors and a new, sharp round key fob. Tata also provides options for keyless entry, either via a card or a digital key through your phone for the garage — how convenient?
Range, Performance and Dual Battery Choices
The Harrier EV is available with two different battery packs, 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The highest range available is 625 km according to ARAI. Whatever your driving style, a real-world 480–505km can be on the cards. For an electric SUV in this category, that’s impressive. What makes this one different is the quad-wheel drive (QWD) system with two motors, one powering the front and another the rear wheels. That means the Harrier EV can now easily go off-road, drive through snow, sand, or mud, effectively turning it into a genuine all-terrain electric SUV. For enthusiasts, it’s a big win, as they’ve long waited for a 4×4 version of the Harrier.
Side Profile & Rear Styling
From the side, the Harrier EV has a neat and uncluttered design. The 19-inch alloy wheels with arrowhead-like inserts jump out at you right away. Black cladding over the wheels and at parts around the body provides some toughness, while subtle chrome or silver use makes it classier. Dot EV badging is seen on the driver and passenger doors. Electronic ORVM with indicators and request sensors on both sides adds to the convenience and style. Longitudinal roof rails and a shark fin antenna with a camera now grace the roof for added utility and a pinch of pizzazz on top. At the rear, there is a linked tail lamp arrangement with the Harrier. Black EV badging for a sharp and bold look. There are a further six parking sensors in the back, too, and you get a huge 502 litres of boot space, which extends to 999 litres with the seats folded. And amazingly, Tata gives you a spare (even though it’s an EV, and therefore it’s just another thing banging around in an already cramped car) instead of a punkit. The boot is also a power tailgate, and access is easy downward.
Interior Roomy, Smart & Goodies-Filled
Enter, and you’ll find a brand new design theme welcoming you. The interior of the cabin combines white, grey and black piano finishes, interspersed with judicious use of silver trims. It’s not plastic-heavy either — soft-touch materials add to the luxury feel. The new pattern across the dash is not wood or fibre, but makes the interior feel wide, smart and expensive. It features a huge 14.5-inch Harman display, made with Samsung Neo QLED technology, in the centre. It’s not just beautiful, but highly functional. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported on the infotainment. It’s got Alexa integration, and Tata’s very own RK. Multimedia, games, and more with the EV suite.
High-Tech Features That Amaze
And one of the headlining features: Auto Park assist.” The car parks itself, and you don’t have to touch the steering wheel or accelerator or brake. Just activate the mode and let the Harrier EV premium do the rest.
Other features include:
